I participate in the walk every year from San Diego, California but this will be my first year with AIDS Walk New York. I managed to raise $500 for the walk last year and have decided to go above and beyond this year with an ambitious goal of raising $1000 by the 20th of May. As of Monday, the 27th of February, it has been reported that the walk has raised a total of $737,211 donations.
That being said go ahead and contribute $1, $10, $100 - the important thing is not the level of your monetary contribution but your wholehearted support! Together we can make a big difference! Find my donation page here (http://aidswalknewyork2012.kintera.org/ellestanol).

“How old are you?”
“Twelve.”
“How long have you been twelve?”
“…Awhile.”
My birthday this coming Saturday marks the end of an era. No longer will I be the dewy-eyed twelve year old boy you’ve all come to know and love. This is the year I become a man. This is my bar mitzvah, and I am more than excited to be embarking upon this journey into adulthood with all of you wonderful, beautiful people.
There are only three things I want for my birthday. I do get three wishes, right?

World AIDS Day 2011
“World AIDS Day is held on 1 December each year and is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died. World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day and the first one was held in 1988.” (About World AIDS Day)
Thank you, ManHunt.
World AIDS Day was first celebrated Dec. 1, 1988. It was the first ever global health day and is commemorated by spreading awareness, showing support for people living with HIV, and remembering those who have died of HIV/AIDS.
James W. Bunn and Thomas Netter, two public information officers for the Global Programme on AIDS at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland came up with the idea in 1987. Dec. 1 was chosen as the perfect date between elections and holidays. Each year has a theme, with the theme for 2011 being “Getting to Zero” meaning an AIDS-free generation.

Hey, guys! This will be my first summer in New York City and I’m taking part in a cause that is very near and dear to my heart. I’ve been involved with AIDS WALK San Diego since I was a wee lad and now that I’m all grown up and in the Big Apple I’ve decided to join AIDS WALK NEW YORK! Help me make a difference by sponsoring me this year!
